QotW10: Venturing my Second Life

Let's meet Liyana Amat in Second LifeAny similarities??
It's really tough to make the both of them look similar. Not sure if you can see but both of them has similar hair length. But it's obvious that they have different hair color. Liyana Zainal just wished that she could have the same or similar hair color with Liyana Amat. So to make them be almost similar, Liyana Amat goes hunting for guitar.
Why did I choose Liyana Amat?
Obviously, Liyana is her name. The choices that she had for her second name were mostly of them are English name, and she wanted her name to sound Malay, because she is one, and Amat sounds Malay (if you pronounce it like one). They're both females who likes to dress comfortably, jeans and t-shirt, with a pinch of humor (the hat).
My Favorite Place (at the moment)
Exploring Second Life, Liyana went to find places where she can find entertainment, and in Second Life, she found this place called Nomasha Syaka.
Admiring the guitars that is impossible for her to own in Second Life and Real LifeThere, she found guitars that she can never imagine owning one! One her 5th time there, she got herself a guitar for FREE! How amazing! It's totally impossible to get a guitar for FREE! So the moment she got that guitar, she went skanking!!
Liyana Skanking!!Nomasha Syaka also has furniture that you can buy if you have some lindens.

Bonus Mission #2: Get your real Second Life now!
Gaming to me is always something fun, interesting, and brings out the inner child in me that can make me forget not only on problems that I have, but also time because they really do flies fast when you’re gaming! But games these days are more that just for plain joy and pleasure. They use our cognitive and sometimes physical ability, and in COM125, our assignment on gaming is to go enter and experience Second Life.
The first time I hear of Second Life was in my first lecture, and question marks kept coming to my mind on what is Second Life? After hearing so much about it from Kevin, I starting to become convinced that Second Life is the in thing to know especially for a student doing Introduction to the Internet.
What is a game?
“A game is a structured or semi-structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes also used as an educational tool” (Game, 2007).
Never experienced World of Warcraft before, it’s really hard for me to really differentiate if Second Life is a game or not, because there are similarities between the two. Both World of Warcraft and Second Life uses an avatar that represents themselves with pseudonyms. They also have their own currency and economy where uses can buy either the avatar of things that they might need in either Second Life or World of Warcraft. Avatars can also communicate with one another.
One thing that differentiates Second Life to any other game like World of Warcraft is that in Second Life, there is no progression to the level. Like any other games, World of Warcraft “builds up characters at their own pace, shielded from predators” (Levy, 2006).
Games are progressive, there will a time when you reach the highest level and you have nowhere else to go. One can go and find another game or go and make another avatar and challenge themselves again. They also have to follow steps before going up the level.
Second Life is not like any other computer program that needs one to be connected to the Internet. Second Life can give us information than we may not be able to find or experience on the Internet. For example one can experience schizophrenia that is merely impossible for one to experience in real life. Second Life can be used to explore other countries. Singapore herself is making name in Second Life. People can experience Singapore without having to leave the country. No hassle except to teleport! It’s really, really great.
Conclusion
With that, I have made a conclusion that Second Life is not a game. Although it may be a used to relieve stress and that a user can be immense into the virtual world, Second Life does not need a user to progress to the next level, and I don’t think that there is an end to it. You can do what ever you want with it, and your avatar can never die. It’s more educational than for entertainment purposes. In Second Life, there's more to explore!

Demo recording

yesterday right after school, met my friends from Sinar Fusika to do our first ever demo recording at Music Zone (the site is not that updated, but no harm) at Woodlands beside Fuchun CC... we had so much free time before the recording, so we took this photo and i edited it... hehehe...
so we recorded 3 songs, Zapin Fusz, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Jing Kli Nona Reggae... ya man!!! oo oo oo!! hehehe
we had fun. it was an experience and an eye opener to the world of music industry... not only money, but large amount of time spent... gorgeous!! hehe... i was there from 10.30pm to 2am while the rest who didn't have anything on today stayed till 4.30am... if i could, i would have.. but since i had class and a test and i had to make a move... so sad!! well, the recording is not done yet... the sound is still raw and out in many places.. that's why we're putting the technical stuff in the hands of the producer, Brader Nizam, and my naughty lil brader, ihsan... pray that it turn out fine... btw, does anybody know how to embed song to the blog?? help!! hehehe...
anyway, i did a video and it's currently being uploaded to youtube.com and Sinar Fusika's website...
back to business!!
